#29 Ekaterina P.

Ekaterina, 20 years old, worked as an animator in Minsk (lives in Poland). Ekaterina was detained on August 12 2020, in the midst of the protests. During the arrest, the girl saw the beating of the guys who were with her, and then ended up in the detention center at Akrestina, which turned into a concentration camp in August 2020.

At Akerstina, the girl, along with other women, was subjected to inhuman treatment, insults and beatings.

Together with Ekaterina there was a girl with a broken leg, beaten women and girls. All of them did not receive any medical assistance and had no access to water for more than 12 hours.

During the "trial" Ekaterina had no opportunity to get acquainted with the protocol and to defend herself and her rights. She was given 11 days, and despite the fact that she was already released on August 15, her story about three days at Akrestina is colored with inhumanity and horror.

In January 2021, fearing persecution, Ekaterina and her boyfriend were forced to leave Belarus, without even having time to say goodbye to their loved ones. They are now in Poland.

"Don't give up. Remain brave, because the protest in Belarus has a woman's face."
