From Valadarka prison in Belarus
to the Bundestag!
Belarusian female political prisoner Tatsiana Astrouskaya at a meeting with the Bundestag MP Katja Keul: Europe should not close its eyes to what is happening in Belarus!
With the support of Belarus Women’s Foundation on 05.04.23, a Belarusian political prisoner Tatsiana Astrouskaya and MP of the German Bundestag Katja Keul (Alliance 90/The Greens), who had taken over a symbolic godparenthood for Tatsiana within the solidarity campaign #WeStandBYyou launched by Libereco.
Tatsiana Astrouskaya is a volunteer. During the nationwide protests against Lukashenka Cartel in August 2020 she helped the arrested people. After 10 months of imprisonment she was released on bail "obligation not to leave the country". To avoid the expected heavy prison sentence Tatiana was forced to leave Belarus (forced emigration), for which she had to swim across the Neman River...
Now, after almost a year later, Tatsiana tells her story and appeals to the world community not to turn a blind eye to what is happening in Belarus and to insist on the immediate release of all political prisoners. This was also topic of conversation during the meeting today with MP of Bundestag Ms. Katja Keul.
Ms. Keul admitted that many Belarusian “opposition members, independent journalists and activists are unjustly imprisoned, but we have not forgotten them and their efforts!” Ms. Keul also insisted on the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners held in prisons by the Lukashenka Cartel.
The Belarus Women's Foundation thanks Mrs. Keul for the warm welcome of Tatsiana Astrouskaya in the Bundestag today and for constant support of political prisoners in Belarus!

Политзаключенная Беларуси Татьяна Островская на встрече с депутатом Бундестага Katja Keul: Европа не должна закрывать глаза на происходящее в Беларуси!
При поддержке Беларуского Женского Фонда 05.04.23 в Бундестаге Германии состоялась встреча политзаключенной Беларуси Татьяны Островской и депутата Бундестага Катей Койль (Alliance 90/The Greens), которая была символической крестной Татьяны в рамках кампании Libereco #WeStandBYyou.
Татьяна Островская - волонтерка, во время всенародных протестов против картеля Лукашенко в августе 2020 года помогала арестованным. После 10 месяцев заключения Татьяна была освобождена под "подписку о невыезде". Чтобы избежать ожидаемого тяжелого тюремного срока, Татьяна была вынуждена покинуть Беларусь (вынужденная эмиграция), для чего ей даже пришлось переплыть реку Неман...
Сейчас, спустя год, Татьяна рассказывает свою историю и призывает мировую общественность не закрывать глаза на то, что происходит в Беларуси, и настойчиво требовать немедленного освобождения всех политических заключенных. Это также было темой сегодняшней встречи с депутатом Бундестага госпожой Катей Койль.
Госпожа Койль отметила, что многие беларуские «оппозиционеры, независимые журналисты и активисты несправедливо брошены в тюрьмы, но мы не забыли их и их усилия!» Г-жа Койль также настаивает на немедленном и безоговорочном освобождении всех политзаключенных, удерживаемых в тюрьмах картелем Лукашенко.
Беларуский Женский Фонд благодарит госпожу Койль за радушный приём Татьяны Островской в Бундестаге и за постоянную поддержку политзаключённых Беларуси!
