#karlspreis2022 | 26.05.22:  Ceremony of the International Charlemagne Prize in Aachen, Germany

The award ceremony was held in the Coronation Hall of the City Hall in Aachen. S. Tsihanouskaya, V. Tsepkalo and M. Kolesnikova received a high award for their contribution to the fight for human rights and peace "in the most difficult political conditions."


The mayor of Aachen, Mrs. Sibylle Keupen, and the chairman of the Board of the Directors of the Karlspreis, Dr. Jürgen Linden, presented the prize.


Among the 600 guests were the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, the German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, the President of the Bundestag Bärbel Bas, the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia Hendrik Wüst and the 9th President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite #karlspreis2013 ...


Speaking at the Award Ceremony, the German Foreign Minister called the winners of the 2022 award "the most courageous women in Europe." "The light which they kindled lit up the whole of Europe," said Annalena Baerbock.

25.05.22: Laureates of the Karlspreis 2022

at the RWTH Aachen University

The day before the Karlspreis ceremony, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Veronica Tsepkalo and Tatiana Khomich, who represents her sister Maria Kolesnikova, took part in the meeting with students at the RWTH Aachen University.

In the lecture center of the university, the laureates of the Karlspreis spoke about the current situation in Belarus and Eastern Europe and urged not to forget Belarus. Veronica Tsepkalo stressed the importance of EU support in opening a criminal case against Lukashenka in the International Criminal Court - ICC

24.05.2022: Veronica Tsepkalo at a meeting with

women in Aaachen, Germany

On May 24, 2022, Veronica Tsepkalo met with successful women of Aachen, Germany. In particular, among those present were politicians, business women, representatives of public initiatives and the mayor of the city.

The main topic of the meeting was the discussion of the role of women in politics and business, as well as the empowerment of women. In addition, Veronica Tsepkalo raised the issue of supporting Belarusian female political prisoners and asked to take patronage over female political prisoners who are not widely known in Belarus.

26.04.22: Встречи в Бундестаге (belaruswomen.org)

On 25.-26.04.2022 as part of the international Charlemagne Prize 2022 (Karlspreis 2022), the award ceremony of which will take place on 26.05.22 in Aachen, Germany, Veronika Tsepkalo, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and Tatyana Khomich, who represented Maria Kolesnikova, had a number of meetings with representatives of the German Bundestag in Berlin.

In particular, meetings were held with Minister of State Claudia Roth (BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN), President of the Bundestag Bärbel Bas, heads of parliamentary groups in the Bundestag, Dr. Rolf Mützenich (SPD), Friedrich Merz (CDU/CSU), Katharina Dröge, Britta Haßelmann and Christian Dürr (FDP).

In addition, a press conference was also held with German correspondents.

One of the most important issues discussed at the meeting was the issue of opening a criminal case in The Hague International Criminal Court against a citizen of the Republic of Belarus A. G. Lukashenka on the article "Crimes against humanity". The Belarus Women's Foundation had been collected evidence for several months, and in May 2021 filed a lawsuit (Road to The Hague (belaruswomen.org)
