Sofia Sapega is a student of the European Humanities University in Vilnius, a citizen of the Russian Federation.
On May 23, 2021, Sofia was returning from a vacation in Greece together with blogger Raman Pratasevich. The Ryanair plane was forced to land at Minsk National Airport. Sofia and Raman were detained.
Sofia was named a suspect in a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 293 of the Criminal Code (organization of riots) and Art. 342 of the Criminal Code (organization or active participation in group actions that grossly violate public order).
Sapega was remanded in the KGB pre-trial prison in Minsk.
On May 27, she was named a suspect under Part 3 of Article 130 of the Criminal Code, "incitement to racial, national, religious or other social hatred or enmity."
On June 24, she was transferred to house arrest.

23 мая София возвращалась с отдыха в Греции вместе с блогером Романом Протасевичем. Самолет авиакомпании Ryanair, в котором они летели, заставили совершить посадку в Национальном аэропорту "Минск". Там Софию и Романа задержали.
"Новой газете" стало известно, что Софию подозревают по уголовным делам по ч. 1 ст. 293 Уголовного кодекса (Организация массовых беспорядков) и по ст. 342 Уголовного кодекса (Организация либо активное участие в групповых действиях, грубо нарушающих общественный порядок) и по ч. 3 ст. 130 УК (разжигание вражды).
Софию Сапега содержали в СИЗО КГБ, а 24 июня перевели под домашний арест. В сентябре стало известно, что ей продлили арест до 25 декабря.
20 декабря 2021 стало известно, что Софии предъявили окончательное обвинение по семи статьям Уголовного кодекса: ч. 3 ст. 130 (разжигание вражды в составе группы лиц); ч. 4 ст. 16 и 364 (организация насилия и угроз в отношении милиционеров); ч. 4 ст. 16 и 365 (угрозы, клевета или распространение сведений о милиционерах); ч. 4 ст. 16 и 366 (организация насилия и угроз в отношении должностных лиц); ч. 4 ст. 16 и 389 (организация угрозы убийством или насилия в отношении судей); ч. 4 ст. 16 и 198 (воспрепятствование деятельности журналистов с угрозой применения насилия); ч. 1 и 2 ст. 203-1 (умышленный сбор информации и персональных данных другого лица).
В конце декабря 2021 ее дело направлено в суд.
Отчим девушки Сергей Дудич сообщил 21 декабря 2021 в эфире "Эха Москвы", что София подала прошение о помиловании на имя Лукашенко.
