It is almost unimaginable that what should have an unremarkable day when she visited her child’s school turned into the start of such a nightmarish experience. Her imprisonment is a terrible abuse of human rights by the Lukashenko regime, and I call for her to be released. For the sake of Zhanna and her children, and for all of the prisoners and their families who are affected by these unjust and inhumane sentences, they must all be released unconditionally and immediately.”
Zhanna Volkava was detained on May 11, 2023, at Secondary School No. 63, where she had come for a meeting with her child’s teacher. According to media reports, police had previously detained Zhanna during the 2020 protests under administrative charges.

Art. 368 of the Criminal Code — Insulting the President of the Republic of Belarus
Art. 130 of the Criminal Code — Incitement to hatred
Art. 367 of the Criminal Code — Slander against the President of the Republic of Belarus
Art. 361-2 of the Criminal Code — Financing the activities of an extremist group
Art. 361-4 of the Criminal Code — Promoting extremist activities
October 9, 2023: A closed hearing was held in the Homieĺ Regional “Court.” The “judge” was Aleh Kharoshka.

Жанну Волкову задержали 11.05.23 в школе № 63, куда женщина пришла для встречи с учительницей ее ребенка. По сообщениям СМИ, ранее милиция уже задерживала Жанну Волкову по административным статьям во время протестов 2020 года.
