In an interview with Radio Svaboda (H. Sous), Chairman of the BWF Veronica Tsepkalo, Board Member Angelica Agurbash, activist Ksenia Kalaur, and Daria Losik, the wife of political prisoner Ihar Losik, talk about the new BWF SOS project, about support for political prisoners and the problems facing Belarusian society.
The SOS distress signal is sent out in case of emergency. This is the situation in which Belarus currently finds itself. We care. We want to help those living under repression. At present, we can only offer moral support. However, this is not enough.
Lawlessness has been around for many years, and to many, it had begun to seem normal. The unprecedented rigging of the elections in August 2020 and the ensuing violent crackdown were the final straw for the Belarusian people. Violence and lawlessness can no longer be tolerated.
Nothing that happens in Belarus is normal. They do not hand over parcels or letters to prisoners. This is not normal. And it won't get any better. If we don't take heed of this, everyone will think that all is peaceful and calm. That is why we must shout about what is happening in Belarus. We must scream until they hear us.
The SOS project is only one of the BWF projects but we believe this one is particularly important.
We are sending out an SOS signal to the world.
Save us! Save Belarus!
