August 9, 2025 marks five years since the presidential election in Belarus - an event that sparked the largest revolution in the country’s modern history.
The 2020 campaign was supposed to be just another one - the sixth in a row, with a predictable scenario and a preordained result. But this time, everything turned out differently.
Two months after the protests began, the Belarus Women’s Foundation was founded - an organization that still: documents crimes against women who ended up behind bars, provides psychological and legal support, reminds all of us and the international community: in today’s Belarus, anyone who dares to speak out can be arrested.
Valery Tsepkalo, a participant in the presidential campaign, has begun publishing a chronicle of those events:
"As we approach the fifth anniversary of the Belarusian revolution, I begin publishing the most complete and authentic chronicle of 2020 - as I saw it and personally lived through it as one of the organizers and active participants in those historic days. It is a story of hope, dignity, and mutual trust - but also of pain and betrayal. And yet, it is also a story of hope that continues to live on, despite everything. Read and follow the updates. This chronicle will be published daily." https://t.me/valerytsepkalo/7793
This is an insider’s perspective - about hope and resistance, courage and betrayal.
We’ll be sharing these materials - because it’s important to remember.
And it’s important to tell the truth.
