Alex Kliuchko is from Belarus. The young designer is currently studying Fashion and Design at the Oslo Metropolitan University.
In her graduation collection named GENERATION Ў Alex calls on the international community to pay attention to Belarus, and help restore freedom and rights to the Belarusian people. To Alex, fashion is more than just a gloss. It is about life, freedom of expression, and mutual support.
The GENERATION Ў collection was inspired by Belarus' history, each item of the collection has implicit meaning, some sort of code that viewers are invited to decipher.
Red and white are the historical colors of Belarus. The main element of the collection is the Belarusian Ў letter (short U). This letter is featured in the print and symbolizes the unique identity of the Belarusian nation - a country that believes in its future, preserves traditions, culture, and language, where people support one another and believe in freedom and democracy.
Support the Fashion for Freedom project to help the Belarusian women get back their basic rights including the right
to choose the colors they like.
In today's Belarus, women get fined and sent
to prison for wearing red and white.
If you are a designer, please dedicate your collection
to the women of Belarus!
