Time Out with Veronica Tsepkalo and Volha Sieviaryniec

Pavel Sieviaryniec, Olga's husband, one of the leaders of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party, was under investigation for approximately a year, and on 25th May, 2021, he was sentenced to 7 years in a maximum security colony. The image of Volha Sieviaryniec standing at the walls of Akrestina, waiting in vain for her husband, spread all over the Internet and became one of the most significant events in Belarus in 2020..

Olga shared about her life as the wife of a political prisoner living with a 3-year-old child, who is a help to  them, and the touching way that father and son keep in touch. ““It is difficult, but you can look at everything from different angles. There is also a lot of good. There is in addition, an incredibly beautiful Belarusian solidarity that has been bestowed upon our family".

Olga also spoke about the project “A Constant Prayer for Belarus", which has been in existence for 6 years. She shared her thoughts on the role of the Church and women in the current situation, and what we can all do to change it.

“It may seem like a trivial thing, but it is critical now to remain an honest person, to fight our fears, to speak Belarusian, and return to the language. It seems like such an unrelated issue, but it is strongly linked to our future. A lot of work has moved into the spiritual sphere. It is important now in such a difficult time of waiting, that we work on ourselves, our goals and our core being. Language and faith are essential now. ”

The interview was very sincere and inspiring. Despite the gravity of the situation in which the Severinets family have found themselves, they have not fallen into despair. According to Olga, everyone will find support and hope, and they will see a new Belarus through her eyes.
