The Belarus Women’s Foundation is launching a new project about famous people with Belarusian heritage. Many of us have known the names of Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Barbara Radziwill, Mark Chagall, and Yanka Kupala since our school days as they are traditionally associated with our homeland. Yet there are many people whose forefathers and families for various reasons left Belarus. Their descendants now speak different languages, win medals, and make other countries proud.
For example, our readers will discover the background of the Hollywood actress loved by millions of fans across the world and the star of “Friends”, Lisa Kudrow. We will also share the story of one founders of the Hollywood Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film studio Luis Bart Mayer, the artist Leon Bakst, and many others.
We will tell you about our contemporaries and those whose names are kept by history. Regardless of gender, place of residence, and language, we will show a link and reveal their success stories.
Once a month we will publish a fascinating tale of well and lesser-known facts about people who can trace their origin to Belarusian roots, including their biographies and professional achievements. We are looking forward to bringing you more than 30 stories.
