Alois Rainer (member of the German Bundestag) for Maryna Zolatava: “Regarding the upcoming elections for the Bundestag, we should make ourselves aware of our democratic system, the freedom of speech as well as the freedom of the press and media. In a part of our neighbourhood in Eastern Europe, these values have been abolished. The elections in Belarus the past year were not organized democratically. Since then, the efforts by the Belarus civilisation for democracy have been nipped in the bud. The government pursues a strategy of intimidation and violence. In these times, the people of Belarus need international support on their way to democracy. I am honoured to take over the good parenthood for Maryna Zolatava. She is editor-in-chief of “TUT.BY”, the country’s largest independent news agency. In the framework of a criminal case initiated against TUT.BY for tax evasion in a large scale, she and her colleagues were detained on May 18, 2021. However, it is believed that this determination was politically motivated because of her central function and her importance for independent press in Belarus. As a member of the German parliament, I call for the release of Maryna Zolatava and all further unjustly imprisoned citizens, including the end of violence and take through free and fair elections in Belarus”

Maryna Zolatava is editor-in-chief of TUT.BY.

In 2019, Zolatava was sentenced to a heavy fine in a criminal case under Art. 425 СС "inaction of an official" in connection with alleged unauthorized access to information of the government-owned news agency BelTA. Human rights activists believe that the criminal case was politically motivated.

Maryna was detained on 18.05.21 in the framework of a criminal case initiated against TUT.BY.

In October 2022 Maryna Zolatava was included into so-called "KGB-terrorist list".

Charges indicted:

Art. 361 СС "Calls for actions aimed at causing harm to the national security of the Republic of Belarus"
Art. 130 СС "Incitement to hatred"

On 17.03.23 Maryna Zolatava and Liudmila Chekina were sentenced by lukashenka regime to 12 years colony each.

На TUT.BY Марина Золотова пришла в 2004 году, а вскоре стала его главным редактором. Золотова любит балканскую культуру, знает болгарский язык. Свободное время Золотова посвящает прослушиванию балканской музыки.

В 2019 году Марину Золотову осудили на крупный штраф по уголовному делу по ст. 425 УK "Бездействие должностного лица" — делу о несанкционированном доступе к информации "БелТА". Правозащитники считают то уголовное дело политически мотивированным.

Марина была задержана 18.05.21 года в рамках уголовного дела, возбужденного против TUT.BY.

В октябре 2022 г. КГБ включил Золотову в список "лиц, причастных к террористической деятельности".

Предъявлены обвинения:

ст. 361 УК "Призывы к действиям, направленным на причинение вреда национальной безопасности Республики Беларусь"
ст. 130 УК "Разжигание вражды или розни"

09.01.23 в Минском городском суде началось рассмотрение дела против крупнейшего белорусского независимого портала TUT.BY. Судебный процесс с самого начала сделали закрытым.

17.03.23 "судья" Валентина Зенькевич назначила бывшей главной редакторке портала Марине Золотовой и бывшей генеральной директорке Людмиле Чекиной по 12 лет лишения свободы в колонии в условиях общего режима каждой.
