On November 25th, 2022 in frame of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women: 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence | UN Women a rally of Belarusian fem-activists took place in Vilnius under the slogan "NO WOMAN IS FREE UNTIL ALL WOMEN ARE FREE"
The rally presented a 4-meter banner with the names of Belarusian women political prisoners. At the end of the event the rally participants sang a Belarusian folk song "Green Cherry".
Participants of the rally stated:
- In Belarus, hundreds of political prisoners and repressed women went through detentions and torture in prisons for their civic position
- Home violence stats hidden by Lukashenka's regime
- Almost all women's NGOs that helped victims of domestic violence eliminated by Lukashenka's regime
- Seeking help from the police, whose officers beat and torture detained women, is dangerous
- Victims of violence in Belarus are left without protection and support
- Women around the world are demanding an end to violence, but politicians and states ignore this issue, and victims of abuse are left alone with their problem
"We are convinced that violence against women is not just a "patriarchal tradition" - it leads society to repression and wars"
