The Belarusian Women's Foundation is a supporter of eco-friendly slow fashion. It seems to everyone that his decision to take better care of old things and buy less new clothes is a drop in the bucket in the vast all-consuming world of fast fashion. That's not true at all. The success of slow fashion depends on each of us.
We, Belarusian women, stand on the principle of using safe, eco-friendly fabrics, refusing to use animal skins for clothing production. Such things can be made both from scratch and by recycling old outfits, as well as by updating already outdated things. Sustainable fashion standards require the use of safe dyes, the rejection of pesticides in the cultivation of raw materials.
It should be noted that we are also driven by the desire to save participants in the clothing supply chain from disasters, child labor exploitation and unsatisfactory working conditions. We are puzzled not only by global environmental problems, but also by fair treatment of workers from third world countries. We are convinced that everyone should have equal rights, decent working conditions and fair wages.
The production of clothing according to environmental standards is favorable for the whole planet. It is this principle that we adhere to within the framework of our project "Fashion For Freedom". We urge our participants to give a second life to clothes instead of buying mass-produced clothes. This will significantly reduce the production of new clothes. Buy only high-quality clothes that you really need, do not succumb to the momentary desire to buy a dress or blouse that you are unlikely to wear or put on just once. Treat your clothes carefully, and your clothes will be grateful to you. Things that are cared for serve for many years.
We encourage not only Belarusians, but also designers, artists and everyone from all over the world to participate in our projects "Fashion for Freedom" and "Let's create our Red and White Universe".
We ask you to help us in the struggle for freedom to wear our historical national colors (white and red) by creating new things by recycling old ones, using only eco-friendly means.
You can creatively approach the creation of your red-white masterpieces of clothing. Remember how you loved crocheting as a child, how your grandmother taught you to knit socks with knitting needles, for sure many girls altered their old blouses and skirts to match new fashion trends.
